As a part of the BNGIS Centre's mission to advance the use of modern technologies in the Civil Service, training in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) is provided. GPS is a navigational aid that utilizes 24 satellites that orbit the earth in a grid pattern. There are always six to eight satellites that are able to communicate with any given position on earth at any given time. What this does is give the user the ability to find any place on earth at any time day or night. |

Geospatial data refers to data/information about places or geography. As such The Bahamas Spatial Data Infrastructure (BSDI) System and Programme has been developed as a national strategy for the effective and economical use and management of geospatial assets in the digital environment for the benefit of all government agencies and the general public. |
