Birth Registration

The law requires that every birth is to be registered within twenty-one days from its occurrence.

You have up to the age of three (3)to register a birth, however after the age of one (1) an affidavit is required stating the reason for not registering the child sooner.

Registration of a birth by a person other than a parent must bring an authorization form. (See attached)

The Consumer Price Index, often called the CPI, is one of the most widely used statistical series produced by the Department of Statistics (DOS). The CPI measures changes in the general level of prices of consumer goods and services purchased by private households. It is used as a tool for the adjustment of wages and salaries, by employers and labour unions. Many other forms of price-setting agreements, like rents, insurance premiums, etc. are often tied to the movements in the CPI. For the government, the CPI is an important gauge for assessing current economic performance and for formulating and evaluating economic policy.

    Land holding - Certif. of Registration Form 1

  • A non-Bahamian, (other than a permanent resident or a non-Bahamian acquiring land or an interest in land under a devise or by inheritance), who purchases or acquires an interest in a condominium, or property vacant or otherwise to be used by him as a single family dwelling or for the construction of such a dwelling shall apply to the Secretary to the Board to register the purchase or acquisition. The applicant is issued a certificate.
  • A permanent resident who acquires land or an interest in land shall apply to the Secretary to the Board to have the acquisition registered with the Board. The applicant is issued a certificate.
  • A non-Bahamian who acquires land or an interest in land under a devise or by inheritance shall apply to the Secretary to the Board to have the acquisition registered with the Board and the Secretary issue a certificate to the applicant.

    Learner's Permit

    This service is provided for persons learning to drive. Permit holders when driving any vehicle which he/she has not qualified by test to drive, must carry the prescribed "L" plates at the front and back of the vehicle. Permit holders should always be accompanied by a supervisor except when under going the driving test or when driving a solo motor-cycle or vehicle, other than a motor car, not constructed or adapted to carry more than one person. The supervisor must hold a current licence, other than a provisional licence to drive the class of vehicle being driven by the provisional licence holder and must have passed the driving test or held licence to drive not less than two years.
