Marriage Licence Application

Description:  

Anyone wishing to be married in the Bahamas must first request a license from the Registry.

The legal age of marriage in the Bahamas is eighteen (18).

A marriage license is valid for three months.

FAQ's:

Who is allowed to perform marriage ceremonies?
The person must be a Registered Marriage Officer of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

Is the marriage certificate I receive at my ceremony an official document.
No. The marriage officer who performed the ceremony must register the marriage. A certified copy must have the official seal of the Registrar General.

Why do I need a certified copy of the marriage certificate?
It is required by many lending institutions and insurance companies. Also if the wife now wishes to have a passport with the marriage surname.
