Application for Approved Builder Status

Description:

To become an approved builder, builders/contractors must apply to the Department of Housing for an Approved Builder Status Certificate.

Prerequisite:

Contractors or builders who are Bahamian citizens or permanent residents.

Instructions:

1.Fill out the Application for Approved Builders Status form.
2.Submit application form, along with all relevant documents in support of your application to any of the offices listed below.
3.Once all required documents are submitted, the application is reviewed and a site inspection is scheduled with field officer. Note: The Applicant must be present for the site inspection.
4.On the day of the inspection, the inspector will assess the quality of the builder’s work.
5.If the quality of work is deemed acceptable, the applicant will be issued with an acceptance letter and an Approved Builder Status Certificate. If unsuccessful, the applicant will be issued a letter informing him / her of such.

Fee:

There are no fees associated with this service. Subject to the Housing Act, changes to the fee may be made at the discretion of The Minister of Housing.
