PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR SPOUSE OF A BAHAMIAN

Prerequisite:

The applicant must be the spouse of a Bahamian citizen, has been married for five (5) years, and whose marriage is subsisting and the couple cohabiting as husband and wife.

Attachments:

The following supporting documents are needed to process this application:
  1. Two (2) passport size photographs (in colour) with name printed on the reverse side;
  2. Original birth certificate (Bahamian) or certified copy (foreign) with English translation, sealed by the appropriate Consular Office where applicable, with a $4.00 Bahamian postage stamp affixed to the translation;
  3. Original police certificate (issued not more than six (6) months prior to the submission of the application);
  4. Original medical certificate (issued not more than thirty (30) days prior to the submission of the application;
  5. Two original character references (by Bahamian citizens known to the applicant for at least five (5) years);
  6. Financial reference (citing a figure range, and verifying economic worth) from a reputable bank or financial institution;
  7. Parents’ birth or marriage certificates (where applicable);
  8. If the applicant is/was married, he/she is also required to submit an original certified copy of the marriage certificate, spouse’s birth/death certificate, legal separation document or final divorce decree, if applicable;

Instructions:

1.Please print two (2) copies of all parts of this application on legal size paper and complete both copies
2.Submit this form, notarized by a justice of the peace or a notary public and a $4.00 Bahamian stamp attached, along with other specified supporting documents to The Department of Immigration, local Immigration office or to the Family Island Administrator in your area.
